London/Jena (pts035/14.11.2006/13:00) - ePages Software GmbH, one of the leading providers of online shop platforms, is providing the software for the new UK online shop of the world-renowned Encyclopaedia Britannica. ePages successfully expanded to London in July this year and winning Encyclopaedia Britannica as a customer is a significant milestone in the growth of ePages' presence in the UK. Other UK based customers include British Telecom, Bookharbour.com and AliBarter.com.

Encyclopaedia Britannica, a leader in reference and education publishing covering a wide range of topics from science to politics, launched its new online shop http://www.britannica.co.uk" target="_blank">www.britannica.co.uk based on ePages 5.03 Merchant Enterprise Edition.

"Britannica's Online shop offers reference products in a variety of media from the internet to software to books for all ages. Using ePages technology Britannica has been able to powerfully and uniquely present its range of reference products as effectively as possible", said Arndt Groth, Managing Director of ePages Software GmbH.

ePages Merchant sets the standard for e-commerce software. The modular architecture of ePages Merchant enabled the creation of storefront templates tailor-made for the needs of Encyclopaedia Britannica.

In addition to this customised shop design, additional new features were also implemented with ePages Merchant Edition. An exclusive section for distributors and partners was created to show how Britannica products can be used to expand their customer base and increase business. Another important feature is being able to handle any code-based promotion which allows Britannica to test various prices and offers.

A secure XML connection to Encyclopaedia Britannica's external logistics service provider (ADP) has been created by ePages partner 'Exploit The Web'. Through this comprehensive connection to ePages 5.03 the ADP team is able to provide a first class fulfilment service from order taking to despatch. Further information about the Encyclopaedia Britannica online shop can be found at http://www.britannica.co.uk" target="_blank">www.britannica.co.uk.
