Karlsruhe (pts045/05.10.2004/15:10) - After a highly successful first year, eureleA, the European e-learning award, is entering its second year. Last year widespread interest in this contest - from Portugal to Russia - led to more than 70 entries from several European countries.
The final awards ceremony took place on February 9, 2004 at the European E-Learning Gala, a festive event held in the glamorous Kurhaus in Baden-Baden as part of LearnTec. In the 2005 round, the jury seeks again best practice examples for electronic multimedia teaching and learning methods in Europe. Entries are accepted from any organization using e-learning in job training or continuing education. Winners will be awarded the eureleA 2005.
The award will be presented in five categories:
1. Enterprise Projects, e.g. companies and their departments which use e-learning for job training or further education of their employees. A distinction will be made between large companies with more than 100 employees and smaller companies.
2. Associations and foundations, or clubs of professional users of e-learning, e.g. chambers of commerce or trade, industrial consortia and similar institutions which use e-learning across the borders of companies.
3. Public education or administrative bodies which use e-learning for job training or education of their employees.
4. Private and non-profit initiatives which use e-learning.
5. Authors of reports about e-learning in print media, radio or TV. Here the complete, distanced and visionary way of reporting will be evaluated, so that new e-learning courses and their users can derive benefit from this information.
Entries are submitted electronically. The questionnaire is available at http://www.eurelea.org in German, English or French. This guarantees - in the spirit of the contest - that entries are possible from any European country.
Application Deadline is October 15, 2004.
A highly qualified jury will select the best entries according to quality and criterion of transferability to other organizations. It is requested that the entries are dedicated to transfer job skills, and do not originate in the general education section. The jury will determine the finalists in each category by December, 2004.
The award ceremony will take place at LearnTec 2005. This significant European event in the field of e-learning will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, in February, 2005 (http://www.learntec.de). The awards ceremony will be the highlight of a festive evening dinner, at which both leaders in e-learning from industry and science as well as political VIP´s are expected to participate.
Documentation of selected entries will be disseminated by the Fachhochschule Karlsruhe (University of Applied Science) via print, conferences, internet and multimedia. In addition, a special session at the LearnTec conference will be held to present the finalists.
The numerous industrial sponsors and partners supporting eureleA are listed on our website: http://www.eurelea.org. However, potential partners and sponsors from industry and commerce still have many possibilities to leave their marks in eureleA. Due to the high degree of public visibility this award enjoys, eureleA`s partners achieved a high return on investment throughout the e-learning community.
