Vienna (pte002/30.05.2013/13:00) - Life-Ball organisers are considering the possibility that they might no longer be able to host the event in Vienna's prestigious City Hall.
Gery Keszler criticised the administrative constraints after the "1001 Nights"-themed 2013 edition of the ball last Saturday.
The event attracts a lot of prominent super-stars, but for non-VIP guests, there were difficulties getting into the building last weekend when one of the areas around the grand staircase was temporarily cordoned off because the venue had reached full capacity.
Keszler posted a social media update after the ball on Saturday, where he said: "For the 2013 edition of the Life Ball, there was a decision by the authorities to close off at least the lower part of the grand staircase in the events of over-capacity issues.
"For us, the fact they chose to apply the rule to the letter and not let people freezing outside even to stand on the staircase or allow them access to the cloakroom is just not understandable. Especially since the staircase itself was practically empty at the time."
The organiser said the displeasure of the guests was also reflected in financial losses - especially in the gastronomy area.
Gery Keszler now wished to negotiate with the authorities. He said: "We have to seriously ask ourselves if it is any longer possible to hold a Life Ball in the City Hall under the current administrative conditions."
