Art in the Light of Faith: Arthena Maxx's Artworks "The Cross in the Light of the Evangelists"
Ceremonial Handover at Schloss Trautenfels Universalmuseum Joanneum

Graz (ptp025/20.06.2025/18:45) - Trautenfels, June 2025 – As part of the ceremonial Gustav-Adolf Festival 2025, the Universalmuseum Schloss Trautenfels will host the formal handover of the exceptional art series "The Cross in the Light of the Evangelists" by artist Arthena Maxx. At the heart of this body of work are the four pieces Jesus Cross I–IV, which reinterpret the Evangelists John, Matthew, Luke, and Mark in a modern, pop-inspired visual language—conveying the Christian faith in a bold new dimension.

Thanks to the dedication of SI Mag. Wolfgang Rehner, these important works will be ceremonially presented to the Evangelical Church of Styria during the festival. They will take a prominent place within the Church's art collection and will be publicly exhibited at the Evangelical Superintendentur A.B. Styria in Graz.

Sincere thanks are extended to the Evangelical Church of Styria for its visionary support of both art and faith.

Under the 2025 festival's guiding theme "The Church Through Time", the exhibition sparks a compelling dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression. The accompanying Bible verse—"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong." (1 Corinthians 16:13)—underscores the call for spiritual strength, particularly in challenging times.

The works of Arthena Maxx invite viewers to experience art as a source of comfort, inspiration, and spiritual dialogue.

Past and present, belief and expression, color and form converge into a singular cultural moment. The deeper meanings behind the artworks will be thoroughly explored in an accompanying publication.
