Zurich (ptp016/07.08.2024/15:00) - From August 21st to 25th, 2024, the breathtaking works of Tom Bretschneider will be exhibited at the SWISSARTEXPO, held at Zurich's Main Station.
Renowned photographer and filmmaker Tom Bretschneider will present his captivating nature photography at the SWISSARTEXPO 2024. His collection, which captures the beauty of nature above and below water, will be on display from August 21st to 25th, 2024, at the SBB Event Hall in Zurich.
Tom Bretschneider, a dual citizen of Germany and Switzerland, has been residing in Zurich for the past 20 years. Despite a life-altering accident in 2010 that left him paralyzed below the chest and reliant on a wheelchair, Bretschneider has continued to pursue his passion for photography and diving. Through resilience and innovation, he has developed specialized techniques to navigate challenging diving conditions and take professional underwater photographs with large cameras. His determination and creativity extend to his land photography in Africa, where he has adapted vehicles and equipment to overcome his physical limitations.
Inspired by iconic photographers such as Paul Nicklen, Tin Man Lee, David Doubilet, and Alex Mustard, Bretschneider aims to create powerful and moving images. His work seeks to raise awareness about the uniqueness and beauty of the animal world, encouraging viewers to think more deeply about the conservation of our planet. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Bretschneider is committed to giving back; a portion of his revenue supports the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's elephant rescue station in Nairobi, Kenya.
Bretschneider's photography is a testament to his indomitable spirit and his profound connection with nature. Each image is a vivid portrayal of the diverse and breathtaking ecosystems he explores. His underwater photographs reveal the serene and mysterious world beneath the waves, while his land-based work captures the raw and untamed beauty of wildlife in Africa. Through his lens, viewers are transported to some of the most remote and beautiful places on Earth, experiencing the majesty of nature in its purest form.
Visitors to the SWISSARTEXPO 2024 can expect to be moved by Bretschneider's exquisite photography, which combines technical precision with an emotional depth that reflects his personal journey and dedication to wildlife conservation. His work not only showcases the beauty of our planet but also serves as a powerful reminder of the need to protect and preserve it for future generations.
