Zurich (ptp013/23.08.2023/11:00) - At this year's SWISSARTEXPO art festival, the Swiss artist will be showing a selection of his amazing drawings in their original form for the first time.
Even a quick glance is enough to realise that Alan Bruce Thompson has an excellent command of his chosen technique of drawing, especially when it comes to chalk and oil pastels. Many of his recent works show living models, while others were created from photographs.
Trained as a geologist, educator and researcher, Alan's insatiable curiosity led him to explore the world and immerse himself in different cultures and art forms. In response to the COVID pandemic, Alan began an innovative new series of drawings featuring figures from photographs, including friends and fascinating characters from around the world. With interesting and skilfully used shadow plays and contrasts, the artist succeeds in creating works that remain in the viewer's memory for a long time. These purist and captivating works are regularly shared by Alan Bruce Thompson on his Facebook page, delighting art lovers and fans alike worldwide.
Alan's artistic achievements, however, go far beyond his recent works. His earlier works include impressive wood reliefs of people and landscapes, stunning portraits and landscapes painted in oils, and intricate pastel and pencil drawings of studio models.
A selection of the interesting artworks will be on display at this year's SWISSARTEXPO from 6 to 10 September 2023 at Zurich's Main Station. Visitors to the exhibition can look forward to a wonderful artistic experience.
