Zurich, Switzerland/Miami (ptp026/04.12.2019/14:00) - The artist Angie Antonakis, born in Greece, announces today that she will present five of her artworks from 2nd to 8th December 2019 in Wynwood during the Miami Art Week as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Miami 2.0. At the same time, lovers of her art can look forward to her newly published catalogue, which will be displayed in Miami as well.
"I am pain free when I paint."
For Angie Antonakis, creating art is not only a craft, but it miraculously frees her from physical pain. The artist suffers from a chronic illness called Trigeminal neuralgia which causes jolts of excruciating pain in her face. In 2015, after praying for relief from the pain, she went to tidy up her sisters art studio and spontaneously picked up a palette knife with which she created her first work of art on a canvas. Since that day, she continued to produce abstract paintings that carry much more than merely vivid acrylic colors - they portray hidden beings for the viewers to discover and they marvelously free her from her pain.
The love for her hometown Sparta in Greece recently led her to the opening of the Angakis Gallery which became the first fine art gallery in Sparta. In this gallery, she showcases her own art and the artworks of her two sisters who are also artistically active. These days, Antonakis travels between her art studio in Belleville in Illinois, USA, and her gallery in Greece.
Furthermore, Angie Antonakis has published her new artist catalogue. The paintings pictured in this catalogue - all created by the use of a palette knife with which she created sharp, spearlike and jagged forms - represent her reality. The viewer is transported into the painting to experience the emotional tensions and pain of her world. They are invited to analyze and dissect all sections of her paintings which are like chapters in a book, portraying her chronic pain of different moments in time. Through her painting she is able to emerge victoriously from her ailment and find happiness in the darkest times.
All art-lovers are cordially invited to visit Antonakis' digitally presented artworks and her catalogue from 2nd to 8th December in the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery at 2nd Avenue in Wynwood, Florida.
