Pforzheim (pts030/12.03.2008/13:50) - The solar industry continues to grow, and so does Europe's most important industry platform, Intersolar. Following the trade show's impressive growth over the last few years, Intersolar 2008 will be taking place in Munich for the first time. And the trade show will grow even more at the new location: more than 800 international exhibitors will be presenting the solar industry's trends and highlights - 25 percent more than last year, while the exhibition space will almost double to 62,000 sqm. Due to the fact that the exhibition space for 2008 is almost booked out already, the organizers are considering to rent an additional seventh hall at the New Trade Fair Center in Munich, in order to meet the massive demand. Intersolar will be able to further consolidate its status as the leading international trade show at the new location: around 40 percent, that is 320 exhibitors, will be coming from abroad this year. Last year, Intersolar welcomed 241 international exhibitors.
Increasingly international trade show
Intersolar continues to grow strongly, with 40,000 visitors expected this year. The trade show's increasing importance for the industry and its move to the Munich location strengthen the event's internationalization. 2008 will also see the launch of "Intersolar North America" in San Francisco, which will tie the worldwide industry even closer together, opening up additional potential in the fast-growing US market.
New Intersolar representative offices in China, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan and the US have been opened to facilitate international service and make the trade show more easily accessible for both exhibitors and visitors. Further international representative offices are planned.
Platform for innovation and exchange
Intersolar 2008 will serve as a platform for innovation in the areas of photovoltaics, solar thermal technology and solar architecture, bringing together important solar companies, product innovations and the latest industry trends, and offering a forum for sharing information and experience.
The Innovation Exchange will be expanded considerably this year: two forums for solar thermal technology and photovoltaics respectively will give experts an overview of the most important innovations in the industry: the expected 90 percent share of trade visitors once again stresses the great importance that solar industry players attribute to Intersolar. Nevertheless, Intersolar is not only open to experts - just like last year, the trade show will open its doors for interested laypeople on Saturday.
The successful job exchange, which was launched this year, will be expanded, too: in cooperation with the German daily newspaper, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Intersolar will be hosting a Job & Career Forum bringing together job seekers and employers.
Attractive supporting program
An attractive supporting program will once again round off Intersolar 2008. For the fourth time running, the PV Industry Forum will attract 400 national and international participants. The event, which will be held in English, addresses industry decision-makers and deals with a wide range of photovoltaics issues. The Solar Thermal Industry Forum is a new highlight: experts from industry, research and development will be presenting and discussing developments in the solar thermal technology industry.
Supporters of Intersolar 2008
Supporters of Intersolar 2008 are the leading associations in the solar industry. German Solar Industry Association (BSW, formerly BSi and UVS), German Solar Energy Society (DGS), the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF) and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES).
