Cambridge, UK (pte022/22.07.2005/13:40) - The focus of this year's Royal Television Society Cambridge convention http://www.rts.org.uk/Information_page_+_3_pic_det.asp?id=2522&sec_id=430 will be on the impact of digital media on broadcasting. Senior executives from Yahoo!, Microsoft and the Hongkong telecoms firm, Hutchison Whampoa will be participating.
A session on 'media disruptors' will involve Blair Westlake, the corporate vice president of media, entertainment and convergence at Microsoft, and Frank Sixt, the chief financial officer of Hutchison Whampoa. The aim of the session is to provide a global perspective on how the disruptive forces of mobile, broadband, and the internet will impact on the world of traditional television.
At the conference, which takes place every two years, media leaders, broadcasters and content producers discuss and workshop the key issues of the swiftly changing media landscape
Media executives attending the convention will include Gerhard Zeiler, chief executive of RTL, BBC director general, Mark Thompson, BSkyB chief executive, James Murdoch and the managing director of Warner Bros Entertainment UK, Josh Berger.
The title of this year's convention is: Always on - the Creative and Economic Challenges. It will be held at King's College on September 15-17.
