Los Angeles (pte029/18.05.2005/11:51) - A new desktop search product for businesses was launched by Google Inc http://www.google.com yesterday, Tuesday. Its aim is to aid quicker information search & find on the web, on hard drives, email and corporate intranets, said Dave Girouard, general manager of Google Enterprise.
This edition of desktop search is streamlined for businesses but is based on Google's consumer product. With Google's Search Appliance and Mini it is now possible to download software for free, search company intranets and Lotus Notes, IBM's business email system.
The indexed and stored data on the desktop product is encrypted for security reasons, Girouard added.
Two of Google Enterprsises main customers include Morgan Stanley and Boeing.
