Vienna (pts017/25.01.2005/10:50) - The use of modern microcannulas in liposuction has the potential to reduce side effects and pain after surgery to a minimum. However, these tools and techniques require even better trained and more experienced surgeons, especially when the procedure shall be performed under pure local anaesthesia using the tumescent technique. DDr.Heinrich, a reknown specialist of liposuction, is now offering workshops for liposuction with microcannulas in Vienna on http://www.ddrheinrich.com .
A lot has changed since an Italian surgeon for the first time performed liposuction for cosmetic purposes way back in the 1970s. This was viewed as a sensation, in spite of the relatively coarse tools he was using. Thick cannulas were used and an electric pump removed the fatty tissue with a lot of power. Results were difficult to foresee and bleeding happened frequently during surgery. Since then, the method has been improved continuously. Especially the cannulas became more sophisticated. "Among all the various techniques that have been tried, liposuction with microcannulas has proven most save, also because it allows liposuction to be done under pure local anaesthesia", says the Vienna based cosmetic surgeon DDr.Karl-Georg Heinrich. On http://www.ddrheinrich.com he provides state of the art information on liposuction. Thinner cannulas (microcannulas) cause less damage to the tissue. Thereby the risk of bleeding is substantially reduced and better results are obtained. Today, the surgeon can choose from a wide variety of cannulas, depending on the part of the body that is being treated and on the individual needs of the patient. DDr. Heinrich himself has invented some of the cannulas used today. He holds a European patent on microcannulas invented by him. Also important for the outcome of liposuction is the method of suction. Mechanical pumps remove fat with a lot of negative pressure. Better results are obtained by manual suction. This method, however, is somewhat exhausting for the surgeon and requires great skill. By applying the right amount of negative pressure at the right time and in the right place, a well trained and experienced surgeon can achieve the best results possible. DDr. Heinrich: "This method requires not only manual skills and the ability of imagination. There's also a lot of experience needed, because the surgeon has to know before, how the results of his work will look in weeks, months and years ahead. You should only rely on a physician who is experienced in liposuction and who is able to prove this."
Interested surgeons can now attend one of his workshops in Vienna, where State of the Art-technique using microcannulas and manual suction with syringes is taught. Special attention is given to techniques of body-contouring on the standing patient that enable the surgeon to sculpt the body-shape that the patient requires.
