Vienna (pte039/30.06.2003/15:46) - The "Universum" nature series produced by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) has won another round of awards at the 10th International Wlodzimierz Puchalski Nature Film Festival in Lodz. In total the show was given six awards, including a first prize awarded by Polish state television Channel 1.
Prizes were awarded to Manfred Corinne, Harald Pokieser, Paul Reddish, Barbara Puskás, Istvan Nadaskay and Waltraud Paschinger for film topics ranging from beavers to the Black Sea. Polish Channel 1 awarded its first prize to Michael Schlamberger's three-part documentary on eagles http://www.science.orf.at .
Three of the winners in Lodz, Nadaskay, Paschinger and Schlamberger also made an impression with other films at the 2003 Slovakian ENVIROFILM festival. "Universum" productions were also honoured at the Los Angeles Film and Video Festival, the Naturale festival in Bad Durkheim, Germany and the Mountain Film Festival in Trient.
"Universum" is produced by the ORF and sold to stations around the world.
