NEC plans to focus on core business
Laser subsidiaries united in new company
Tokyo (pte025/23.06.2003/13:50) - Japanese electronics group NEC http://www.nec.co.jp plans to further focus its energies on its main line of business.
After successfully outsourcing its 80bn yen chips division, the group now plans to separate itself from other business areas as well. The laser division is the next to go.
Both subsidiaries NEC Laser Automaton and NEC Robotics Engineering will soon be run under the name Cyber Laser. The NEC board of directors hopes the new company will be operating independently in December.
