Vienna (pte055/16.06.2003/17:21) - Mobile operator One's 100 per cent subsidiary eWave http://www.ewave.at has entered a WLAN partnership with funknetz.at http://www.funknetz.at .
One http://www.one.at hopes this will help it create a dense WLAN hotspot network with about 300 locations from the start - using sites provided by eWave, funknetz.at and metronet, eWave's second WLAN partner.
"Thanks to a national roaming agreement with Vorarlberg, funknetz.at can bring us important locations in western Austria, which would provide an ideal enhancement to our list of hotspots," said Joergen Bang-Jensen, CEO of One.
By the end of 2003 eWave will set up a total of 70 WLAN hotspots in hotels. Funknetz.at will provide 48 locations, of which 32 will be part of thenational roaming agreement with Vorarlberg. By the end of the year, up to 90 AGIP petrol stations should be equipped with WLAN. Metronet http://www.metronet.at plans to supply 20 new hotspots a month.
