metronet to be first WLAN partner for One
280 hotspots in summer for Connect Austria clients
Vienna (pte032/10.06.2003/14:50) - Austrian mobile operator Connect Austria, also known as One http://www.one.at ,
has announced it will be entering a partnership with hotspot operator metronet http://www.metronet.at through its subsidiary eWave.
The partnership will afford One access to 280 wireless Internet hotspots in Austria. eWave itself is planning to set up about 70 hotspots by the end of the year, mainly in hotels. metronet had been expanding its WLAN access network at a rate of 20 facilities a month.
Both companies, One and metronet, do not exclude the possibility of partnerships with other companies. One has also emphasised that Wireless LAN is not a source of competition but rather an enhancement of 2.5G and 3G technologies.
