Santa Clara/ Feldkirchen (pte049/03.06.2003/16:08) - Intel http://www.intel.com has introduced the first update of its Centrino processor. In total, three new models will be added to the Centrino product family.
The semiconductor manufacturer has accelerated its Pentium M to a tact frequency of 1.7 GHz. Intel is also bringing out a Low-Voltage version with a tact frequency of 1.2 GHz as well as an ultra low voltage processor with a tact frequency of 1.0 GHz.
This month, Intel will also be introducing an update its the network software for the secure transfer of data per WLAN. The update aims to ease the transition from Wired Equivalent Access security technology to Wi-Fi Protected Access. The new software has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
