Stockholm (pte026/30.05.2003/14:56) - Music television channel MTV http://www.mtve.com will soon be acting as a mobile communications network operator in Sweden.
As of June 1, MTV will provide a prepaid offer as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) over Telia Mobile's GSM network. The offer will include music-related data services. The brand name for the new product is "HELLO_MTV".
The target group corresponds to that of MTV's television programming: young people with a preference for popular music. HELLO-MTV clients will receive music news as well as access to special ring tones and supplementary programme information. They can download various hit lists and contact artists and MTV-DJs through special numbers.
MTV has commissioned Spinbox http://www.spinbox.se , a mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE) to take care of services such as network management, billing and customer care. Spinbox has in turn contracted SmartTrust http://www.smarttrust.com to deliver and manage the network's mobile data services.
