St Paul (pte036/23.04.2003/14:30) - CodeWeavers has further expanded its support of Microsoft applications for Linux-based systems with its newly released CrossOver Office 2.0 program.
The new software permits the full use of Microsoft Office XP and Microsoft Access, as well as Photoshop 7, and the applications can be used without a license on Linux-based computers http://www.codeweavers.com/about/press_releases/?id=20030422 .
CrossOver Office 2.0 also supports Windows applications that use Japanese, Korean and Chinese characters on Linux systems, and the Windows environment now permits the use of Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, Lotus Notes and Quicken.
The software package is based on the WINE project, which creates Windows interfaces for Linux to be used on important Linux distributions such as RedHat 9.0, Mandrake 9.0 and SuSE 8.1. The software can be downloaded from the company's website for about 55 dollars.
