Hutchison 3G to start in Austria on 5th May
Focus on multi media services - 50.000 costumers expected 2003

Vienna (pte006/15.04.2003/08:54) - Hutchison, first mobile telephone company in Austria to provide the latest generation of UMTS mobiles telephone, will open its doors to new customers on 5th May, it emerged yesterday. Hutchinson head Berthold Thorna said that the company would be selling UMTS mobile phones under the brand name "Mark "3". He said that "3 "had been a logical choice for the brand name because the number drew attention to the fact that this was the third generation of mobile phones as well as to the three strengths of the new technology which blends communication, information and entertainment.

Thoma said that the company's UMTS phones will be 576 euros or 899 euros if two phones are bought. However, customers will have the cost of buying the phones refunded over the course of two years through a monthly "loyalty bonus". Thorna says that it expects 50,000 to 100,000 customers to sign up for the UMTS service till end of 2003. Hutchinson will have invested 1.2 billion euros in the UMTS network and in a licence by 2005. http://www.drei.at/
