Vienna (pte029/28.03.2003/13:42) - The owners of EUnet, Global Equity Partners http://www.gep.at and the Volksbank Investment AG are trying to win Tiscali as an international partner for their ISP. Global Equity Partners said in a press release that negotiations with the Italian Internet provider had already begun. A final decision is expected to be made within a month.
"The Internet business can not be successfully carried out on the local level forever, but instead requires international partners and services such as for example transregional VPNs," said Herbert Herdlicka, head of Global Equity Partners and chairman of the board at EUnet, about the negotiations with Tiscali. "This is why a strong international cooperation partner is of interest to us."
A declaration of intent on the possible participation of Tiscali in EUnet was signed by the owners of the Austrian ISP and the head of Tiscali last week. The "due diligence" process is now under way.
Both sides have agreed to be silent about the progress of negotiations. "At the moment we can say nothing at all," Renate Gröller, press speaker for Global Equity Partners told pressetext.europe.
