Cologne/ Marburg (pte025/27.03.2003/11:36) - The German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI) http://www.dimdi.de has opened a virtual video library for medical study (VVfM) in cooperation with the Marburg media production firm editworks http://www.editworks.de .
The portal provides high quality medical videos on a range of medical topics. About 80 films are currently available. By the end of the year, 300 digital videos should be online. After a initial free test phase, the industry-related section of the library will be available for a fee.
The aim of the virtual video library is to provide high quality audiovisual aids for medical learning. Linking the videos with existing information provided by DIMDI, the portal creates a unique network of visual and written medical information.
Medical films can be accessed quickly in streaming format http://www.vvfm.de , provided the user has a broadband Internet connection. The films have been selected according to their usefulness to medical learning, and the makers of the portal are still searching for more high quality film material from clinics, scientists and the industry.
