Voice of Russia goes online
24 hour medium wave broadcasting from Berlin

Berlin (pte028/24.03.2003/12:51) - Russian state radio "Voice of Russia" http://www.vor.ru is expanding its broadcasting location Berlin. The medium wave station will soon be broadcasting from the German capital 24 hours a day.

Voice of Russia has also added short wave to its broadcasting capacity, and will soon be offering an online programme. The broadcast portal will be implemented by the Telekom subsidiary T-Systems http://www.t-systems.de . The company reported Friday that its contracts with Voice of Russia had been extended and expanded to include the new services. The new contract also includes an option to broadcast the programme in DRM digital standard.

The Russiand foreign radio station will soon be broadcasting to the near and middle East via short wave from its location in Julich.

T-Systems is busy preparing the new Internet broadcast distribution system. The signals will be transported via satellite to the station in Usingen, where they will be put on the Internet using the Telecom Broadcast Network (TBN). TBN is a high powered network for the distribution of multimedia content on the web.
