Budapest (pte029/21.03.2003/12:52) - The city conference "Capital Cities for EU-Enlargement" presented its new web platform European.Capitals.org http://www.european-capitals.org today in Budapest.
Financed in part by the city of Vienna, the portal is designed to make the experiences and ideas shared at the Budapest conference accessible to the public. Fifteen mayors from capital cities in central, southern and eastern Europe are taking part in the conference, now in its fifth day.
The aim of the online city network is to promote a sense of unity among EU entry candidates. The communications platform should better enable the exchange of professional information and direct contacts among the capital cities, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.
All presentations, documents and decisions from the conference, as well as the complete conference agenda, can be found on the site.
In addition to the European capitals Berlin and Vienna, the cities of Ankara, Bratislava, Budapest, Bukarest, Ljubljana, Nikosia, Prague, Riga, Sofia, Tallin, Valletta, Vilnius and Warsaw are attending the conference.
