Sofia (pte027/27.02.2003/13:51) - Confidence in the Bulgarian business climate has decreased sharply this month, as reported by novinite.
The composite business confidence index measured monthly on the basis of manufacturing, construction, retail and services sectors, has gone down by 1.4 points compared to January, according to a survey of February's business climate conducted by the National Statistic Institute (NSI) http://www.nsi.bg/ . The drop in the manufacturing index was especially marked.
A lack of optimism among service providers further dragged down the composite index and retailers have been complaining of poor opportunities for growth.
Although CEOs in the manufacturing, construction and retail sectors have complained of ongoing financial problems, they remain optimistic for the year 2003.
