Ismaning (pte020/21.02.2003/12:29) - German-American technology company SCM Microsystems http://www.scmmicro.com has closed the final quarter of 2002 with poor results.
According to an obligatory report released today, the group recorded an operating loss of 5.1m dollars, and net losses of up to 6.2m dollars. SCM Microsystems had already reported losses in the third quarter.
In spite of the new negative results, the company said its liquidity has not been affected. At the same time, it has fallen far short of goals announced at the end of the third quarter. At that time, SCM Microsystems predicted a "black zero" for the operative result of the fourth quarter.
Unlike profits, turnover soared beyond expectations in the fourth quarter, climbing four per cent to 48.4m dollars, exceeding company analysts' predictions of turnover between 40 and 45m.
Total turnover for 2002 fell by four per cent to 177.7m dollars, with net losses climbing from 4.6 to 5.3m dollars.
