Berlin (pte004/08.02.2003/17:03) - The Austrian Airlines group (AUA) has been voted the best airline operator in Europe by readers of German magazine 'Business Traveller'. This places the group, which includes AUA, Lauda Air and Tyrolean Airways, above Swiss Air and the Scandinavian airline SAS. Out of the separate airlines in the group, AUA was selected top, with voters pinpointing its ground personnel, refreshments and cabins as areas of excellence. http://www.aua.com
However as a group AUA fell in second place behind SAS for its ground personnel service. Air Dolomiti and Lufthansa are also among the top ranked airlines. Unlike in previous years Lauda Air is no longer considered a separate airline after being fully taken over by AUA. Therefore votes for Lauda Air were combined with those of AUA. But in similar surveys conducted by frequent flyer operators, Lauda continued to attain the same high ratings it always had.
