Brussels (pte044/30.01.2003/13:53) - A European forum designed to open a broad public debate on the obstacles faced by women in entrepreneurship is taking place in Brussels on 28 March.
The event will present findings from a recently published study that identifies national measures promoting female entrepreneurship in the EU and the countries from the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) http://www.efta.int/ participating in the European Economic Area (EEA). The study raises issues such as information gaps, lack of contacts and access to networking, gender discrimination, stereotypes and difficulties in reconciling business and family obligations.
Selected cases of good practices as well as Community actions will be presented during the day's proceedings.
The recently published study is part of the 'Best project', an initiative involving the European Commission, national administrations, professional organisations and support service providers. It aims to identify and evaluate national measures related to start-ups, information, advice, funding, training, mentoring and networks relative to the promotion of female entrepreneurship with a view to setting up good practices.
Potential participants are invited to register before 17 February.
