Bratislava/Slovakia (pts013/17.11.2005/10:00) - S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution AG has successfully implemented an integrated information system for the Slovak Central Control and Testing Institute of Agriculture, the agency responsible for monitoring the import and export of plants.
For the new member states that joined the European Union in May 2004 the harmonization of national legislation with that of the EU was a crucial aspect of the accession process. In this context, it was essential for Slovakia to establish an IT-based system to register producers, importers and exporters of plants and plant products, and monitor plant health and identification.
S&T developed a highly sophisticated information system conforming to EU standards. The web-based user interface enables users to directly access the system, irrespective of whether they are based at the Institute's headquarters or at branch offices throughout the country. The project was finalized in October 2005 and included the development and implementation of the IT solution as well as training for the Institute's 200 employees.
"We are expecting strong growth in demand for new IT solutions in the public sector of the new and future EU member states," said Christian Rosner, CEO designate of S&T AG, adding that, "we are already well positioned in most of these countries."
The two companies have agreed not to disclose the order value of the project.
