Yahoo expands to mobile networks
Technology offers website-searching on cell interface

San Francisco (pte026/07.07.2005/12:42) - Keeping pace with Google http://www.google.com , which also launched internet services recently, Yahoo Inc http://www.yahoo.com now offers a text-message feature and technology that opens up a search engine portal on handsets equipped with wireless application protocol, or WAP.

The message service is available to Cingular, Sprint and Verizon subscribers.

Sending a message to '92466' - the numerals that spell Yahoo on a phone keypad - will deliver direct responses to requests about local businesses, weather and stock quotes.

The website option is available to Cingular, Sprint and T-Mobile subscribers.

Both Yahoo and Google are competing in the wireless technology environment as it expands and improves.

Connecting to mobile phones and networks will generate a sustainable stream of advertising, which accounts for most of both company's revenue.
