Chemnitz first to broadcast lecture in Germany

Chemnitz (pte038/23.04.2003/15:01) - Getting a university degree without leaving one's living room sofa may soon be possible in Germany. As announced today, Chemnitz Technological University http://www.tu-chemnitz.de is planning its first broadcast of a lecture on regional television.

On 27 April regional television in the German province of Sachsen will show the first instalment of a lecture on "Founding Management" for businesses by professor Olaf Gierhake. The class will be broadcast each Sunday at ten AM.

"We want to reach people outside the university with our broadcast," said Gierhake. The project is mainly directed at people who are interested in knowing more about the topic, but cannot take part in the lecture because they have to work. Even those not registered at the university may obtain a certificate of participation.

"The subject of business founding is especially sought-after in the new provinces," said Rene Falkner, head of Sachsen TV and initiator of the broadcast.

He feels that, in addition to an awareness of the topic, obtaining the relevant practical know-how is highly important. The lecture will address questions such as "How to win over one's first client", "Where to get the necessary initial capital", and "How to be successful on the market for the long term".

More information on the lecture can be found at http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/mbv/UnternehmGruend .
