Munich (pte033/27.03.2003/12:48) - The OpenOffice Project http://www.openoffice.org a community of software developers for a free office package has published the first beta version of its OpenOffice 1.1 programme. Its creators say the new version is largely stable, but have nevertheless warned of possible remaining bugs.
OpenOffice 1.1 also has a few additional functions. It now permits the importing and exporting of files in PDF, Macromedia Flash and DocBook formats, as well as office file formats for PDAs such as "flat XML" and XHTML. It also supports word processing in the additional languages Thai, Hindi, Arabic and Hebrew. The spell checker and thesaurus automatically recognize the language used.
Along with the beta version of OpenOffice 1.1, which can be downloaded on the web, a complete German version of OpenOffice 1.0.2 has also become available.
