Clearwater/ Brussels (pte028/26.03.2003/12:05) - The EU http://europa.eu.int has approved the sale of British data network distributors Azlan to US company Tech Data http://www.techdata.com .
The European anti-trust authorities have ruled out the possibility of unfair competition, on both the national and international scale. Tech Data will purchase the British firm for 235m dollars.
Tech Data announced early February it had intentions of taking over Aznar, which provides data network solutions and services throughout Europe. Last year Aznar achieved a turnover of 450m dollars and an operating profit of 9.3m dollars. The company provides network and communications technology to Cisco Systems, Alcatel, Computer Associates, Enterasys, Nortel and 3Com, and has subsidiaries in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, France, Italy and the Netherlands.
