Austrian McDonalds most successful in world
Good relationship between suppliers and franchise owners

Vienna (pte023/14.02.2003/12:14) - Austria McDonalds http://www.mcdonalds.com/ restaurants are the most successful in the world, according to Andreas Hacker, the deputy head of McDonalds in Central Europe.

Hacker said that the profitability of the company's fast food outlets was due to a good working relationship between suppliers and franchise owners. He also said that the investment in a marketing campaign had paid off. Furthermore, McDonalds has little competition in the fast food burger market with Burger King opening just two outlets and Kentucky Fried Chicken still only planning to open 40 outlets.

McDonalds opened four more restaurants in 2002 and plans to open five more next year in Vienna, Lower Austria, Tyrol and Styria. McDonalds currently has 157 outlets in Austria.

Hacker says that the company will adapt to the growing public awareness of the possible harmful health effects of certain foodstuffs by introducing more salads and vegetarian burgers.
