Zurich (ptp013/29.08.2023/11:00) - From September 6 to 10, 2023, prepare to be captivated by the extraordinary artworks of Swiss-born artist Urs Bratschi as they grace the SWISSARTEXPO in the bustling heart of Zurich's Main Station.

With his pasta roller, Urs Bratschi creates the most colourful, complex and elaborate pasta art in any form imaginable. These mesmerizing creations, fashioned from pasta dough with its multifaceted designs, stand as the centerpiece of his sculpture-like art, delicately cast in synthetic resin to ensure their enduring preservation. The software engineer and passionate cook bought himself a pasta roller one fateful day 12 years ago and has not stopped developing his special art form since. Dedicated to the pursuit of authenticity and the essence of natural ingredients, Urs Bratschi forgoes artificial substances, even for the dyes for the unique designs. For instance, he colours green with spinach, red with beetroot and yellow with turmeric. The colours are also not painted on, but instead he colours the dough and then cuts and reassembles it piece by piece. This process requires a delicate touch, experience and patience.

Urs Bratschi values his creative work and his profession as a software engineer equally and could never do without one or the other. He needs both in his life: His work with computers and his artworks made using pasta dough. For him, these two quite different things are still closely linked: both represented creative activity; an art form. Furthermore, a profound shift in perspective dawned upon him in 2014 when diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. After the initial shock, he has now found a positive way of dealing with it and also sees a connection between the diagnosis and his art. His diagnosis has changed his perspective on life and because of that, he knows exactly what he wants. This is reflected in his art and at the same time helps him to be at peace. All this serves as inspiration and motivates him to continue creating his colourful and versatile art form.

A selection of this very unique art will be exhibited in its original form at the SWISSARTEXPO 2023. All visitors of the Swiss art festival are kindly invited to be enchanted and inspired by Urs Bratschi's fantastic pasta art.
